Taking Action
The quality of education that a child gets is directly related to the involvement of parents and the community. There are many different ways and many different levels that adults can become involved in their local schools and communities...
1) The first place to get involved is at the local level by asking questions. You can start by directing a question to the Lakeview Schools through this web site. Also the Trumbull County Educational Service Center is a good source of information about local schools. You can view the State Report card for any district in Ohio by clicking here.
2) To become better informed about school related issues, you might look at the Ohio School Board Association site.
3) Another way to become involved in local, state, and national decisions is by voting. If you have not registered to vote yet, you can do it by clicking here. You can then view local results at the Trumbull County Board of Elections.
4) Of course the last step in getting involved is letting your voice be heard. If you would like to write to your elected officials, on the left section of this screen are the addresses of many public officials that need to hear your concerns about the state of education in Ohio. Also there is a sample letter that may be used as a template.
